by Mike Featherstone, Theory, Culture & Society is a major international journal
with high impact in the areas of sociology, cultural theory and social
theory. It continues to be edited from the TCS
Centre, part of the Institute for Cultural Analysis at
Nottingham Trent University. It recently enjoyed its 25th anniversary
and has been widely acknowledged as playing a leading role in setting
the agenda for theoretical research in the social and human sciences.
The activities generated from the TCS Centre has helped the journal to
sustain a high impact factor evident in the number of downloads and
citations.
Body & Society is also published from the TCS Centre. The journal was
founded in 1995 and in 2008 a new editor and editorial board were appointed.. This was done with the aim of bringing the journal up to a similar
international standing as Theory, Culture & Society.
The Theory, Culture & Society Book Series continues to be
published from the TCS Centre with more than 120 titles published. The
series includes volumes by many of the leading figures in the field
such as: Jean Baudrillard, Zygmunt Bauman, Ulrich Beck, Pierre
Bourdieu, Christine Buci-Glucksmann, Norman Denzin,* Norbert Elias,
Scott Lash, Michel Maffesoli, Roland Robertson, Nigel Thrift, Bryan
Turner, John Urry and Michel Wieviorka.

The main activities of TCS involve the following:
*publications of journals Theory, Culture & Society,
Body & Society and the Theory, Culture & Society Books
Series *organizing conferences; colloquia; research seminars;
workshops; and visiting speaker programmes - currently the focus is on
the development of The New Encyclopedia Project *research development,
collaboration and networking *contributing to the PhD postgraduate
programme at NTU * host visiting professors, research fellows,
