*Leadership is NOT a BELMAS publication but a SAGE Publications journal available online to current BELMAS members.

Founded more than 30 years ago, BELMAS seeks to advance the practice, teaching and study of educational management, administration and leadership in the United Kingdom, and to contribute to international developments in these areas. The Society offers heavily discounted membership rates for members in developing countries and has close links with organizations such as the American Educational Research Association, the Canadian Association for Studies in Educational Research, the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management, the European Forum for Educational Administration and the Society for Management of Education in Ireland.

BELMAS is unique in bringing together:

those who hold or aspire to leadership and management roles in schools, colleges, universities, local education authorities and other organisations with an educational purpose

those who provide training, advice and consultancy in leadership, management and administration in education

those who study and research educational policy, management and leadership in education in the United Kingdom and overseas.

BELMAS holds an annual international conference and provides Development Grants to support learning and development activities organised by BELMAS members. The Grants are intended to support ventures that generate dynamism and creativity in the educational leadership and management field and promote learning, development and improvement.

BELMAS has a publishing programme which includes a book series, newsletters and two journals, Educational Management, Administration and Leadership, and Management in Education, both of which are free to BELMAS members in electronic and print formats.
